5 Signs You're Losing Money at the POS

Simple signals you can check yourself in your POS reports.

20 October 2026 · 4 min read · The Vigilessa Team

You don’t need fancy tech to sense when something’s off. Some warning signs show up right in your POS or cash register reports.

1. Multiple cancellations during the same shift

Cancellations happen, but if they’re clustered on a certain shift or register, it’s worth a closer look.

2. Cash drawer opens without a sale

Drawer openings without a receipt should be rare and easy to explain.

3. Unusually frequent discounts

Employee or loyalty discounts used too often may be a cover for giving away free products.

4. Stock doesn’t match sales

If you’re using more ingredients or drinks than your sales show, the difference is going somewhere.

5. Complaints about wrong orders

Not theft, but still costly: remade products, unhappy customers, wasted time.

If you spot two or more of these signs, a demo using your own recordings will show you exactly where and when the discrepancies happen.
